Here is the latest news from Powersoft.
In an industry defined by rapid change, few technology companies can claim a legacy as enduring as Powersoft Computer Services Limited. Founded in 1986 and formally incorporated in 1991, Powersoft has spent four decades delivering bespoke software development, PowerBuilder consultancy, system migration, and long‑term support to organisations across the UK, Europe, and around the world.
Powersoft began its journey in the mid‑1980s, when personal computing was still in its infancy. Software was shipped on floppy disks, Windows had not yet reached version 3.0, and businesses were only beginning to explore how technology could transform their operations. From our base in West Sussex, we set out with a simple mission: to help organisations harness the power of emerging technology through reliable, forward‑thinking software solutions.
One of the defining moments in Powersoft’s early history came with our very first major customer: Page & Moy, a well‑known UK travel company. They had just secured an ambitious opportunity with Barclaycard to launch the Barclaycard Holiday Club — but they needed a bespoke system built from the ground up, and they needed it fast.
Working in PowerHouse 4GL, we designed, developed, and delivered a complete production‑ready system in just 12 weeks. During that time, Page & Moy’s holiday offers team grew from six people to fifty, and their existing system collapsed under the pressure. Our solution went live at the critical moment, stabilising operations and enabling the business to scale rapidly.
Over the next twelve months, the system supported explosive growth — expanding to more than 200 users and becoming the operational backbone of the Barclaycard Holiday Club. It was a transformative success for the client, and a defining achievement for Powersoft.
Shortly afterwards, Barclaycard acquired Page & Moy. Their Commercial Director famously remarked that they “liked the software so much, they bought the company.” It was a proud moment for us — and a powerful validation of the quality, scalability, and reliability of our work.
In the 1990s, we became early adopters of PowerBuilder — a decision that would shape our identity for decades to come. As PowerBuilder grew into one of the world’s leading enterprise development platforms, Powersoft grew with it. We built mission‑critical systems, modernised legacy applications, and supported organisations across financial services, insurance, engineering, manufacturing, legal services, and local government.
Today, Powersoft is recognised globally as one of the most experienced PowerBuilder consultancies, specialising in migrations to Appeon PowerBuilder 2025, 32‑bit to 64‑bit upgrades, database modernisation, and cloud‑ready architectures. Our expertise is trusted by organisations around the world who rely on PowerBuilder for their most important systems.
Building on our early success with Page & Moy, we re‑developed the original system into a full commercial product built in PowerBuilder. This became Total Solution Travel, a powerful, enterprise‑grade travel reservation and operations platform.
Total Solution Travel quickly became a major success in large call‑centre environments. One of our flagship customers, TV Travel Shop, scaled to more than 500 concurrent users on our platform, selling over £2 million of travel product per day through our software. At its peak, the system powered an extraordinary 6% of the entire UK travel market — a remarkable achievement for a bespoke solution built and supported by a specialist UK consultancy.
We continued to enhance and support our travel technology throughout the 2000s, becoming one of the first providers to deliver a combined Travel Agency + Tour Operator system in a single application. This innovation aligned perfectly with the rise of tailormade holidays, as traditional fixed‑package tours gave way to flexible, customer‑designed itineraries.
The events of 9/11 dramatically reshaped the travel industry, leading to the decline of large call centres and a shift in how travel businesses operated. Despite these challenges, our technology and expertise continued to support customers through one of the most turbulent periods the industry had ever faced.
In May 2015, Powersoft reached another major milestone with the acquisition of Mainstay, a hotel property management system deployed across mid‑sized hotels in Scotland. The product was written in PowerBuilder, making it a natural fit for our technology stack, but it had been neglected for several years and was in urgent need of investment.
We committed significant R&D to revitalising the platform. This included stabilising the core application, improving performance, and eliminating long‑standing reliability issues. Most importantly, we delivered a full channel management solution with a two‑way, fully integrated API connecting to more than 150 booking channels for availability, pricing, and reservations.
Mainstay filled the gap left as the travel call‑centre market declined, and it marked Powersoft’s successful expansion into the hospitality technology sector — another example of our ability to adapt, innovate, and deliver value in new industries.
Alongside our work in hospitality, we continued to strengthen our reputation as a specialist Sage Developer. Over the past two decades, we have delivered business‑critical solutions for organisations across insurance, retail pricing, sales order processing, legal client account management, and engineering.
These projects often involved deep integration with Sage Accounts and other third‑party systems, combining our bespoke development expertise with our understanding of complex business processes. Today, Sage development remains a core part of our service offering, and many of our clients rely on Powersoft to extend, modernise, and support their most important operational systems.
Over the years, Powersoft has built a customer base that reads like a who’s who of globally recognised brands. From financial institutions and engineering firms to travel giants, legal organisations, and hospitality providers, our clients trust us with the systems that run their businesses every day.
For a small, independent company, we have consistently punched well above our weight. This reputation was not built through marketing or scale — it was earned through decades of delivering exactly what we promise. We take on complex, business‑critical projects, and we deliver them on time, on budget, and to the highest standard. That reliability has become our hallmark, and it is why so many major organisations continue to choose Powersoft as their long‑term technology partner.
As we look ahead, Powersoft is embracing the next wave of innovation. We are expanding our expertise in cloud migration, PowerServer deployment, .NET integration, and AI‑enhanced development. Our goal remains unchanged: to help organisations modernise legacy systems, reduce operational risk, and build technology foundations that will last for the next decade and beyond.
To our clients, partners, and dedicated team — thank you. Your trust and collaboration have shaped our journey and allowed us to thrive for four decades. Powersoft remains committed to excellence, innovation, and service. Here’s to 40 years of powering progress — and to many more ahead.

Four decades of adapting, innovating, and delivering solutions that stand the test of time.
Powersoft was born at a time when floppy disks, green‑screen terminals, and early 4GL tools powered business systems. We built bespoke software long before the internet became mainstream, helping organisations automate processes that had previously been entirely manual. Our early work with Page & Moy and Barclaycard set the tone for the decades that followed: rapid delivery, scalable systems, and technology that drives real business growth.
The 1990s brought the rise of Windows, graphical interfaces, and client/server development. Powersoft became an early adopter of PowerBuilder, a platform that would define our technical leadership for years to come. We built enterprise‑grade systems across finance, travel, engineering, and legal services, and launched Total Solution Travel — a product that powered some of the largest travel call centres in the UK.
As the internet reshaped industries, we evolved with it. Our travel technology became one of the first systems to combine Travel Agency and Tour Operator functionality in a single platform, supporting the rise of tailormade holidays. Even as the industry faced unprecedented disruption after 9/11, our systems continued to support customers through rapid change and uncertainty.
The 2010s saw the rise of cloud platforms, API‑driven integrations, and mobile‑first design. Powersoft expanded into the hospitality sector with the acquisition of Mainstay, investing heavily in R&D to modernise the product. We delivered a full channel management solution with two‑way integration to over 150 booking channels, bringing modern connectivity and resilience to mid‑sized hotels across Scotland.
Today, Powersoft is recognised globally as a leader in PowerBuilder modernisation, 32‑bit to 64‑bit migration, database upgrades, and cloud‑ready architectures. We continue to build bespoke enterprise systems, integrate with Sage and third‑party platforms, and support mission‑critical applications for clients across multiple industries. Our focus remains the same as it was in 1986: deliver robust, reliable, future‑proof solutions that help organisations thrive.
Four decades of trust, delivery, and long‑term partnership.
Reaching 40 years in the software industry is more than a milestone — it is a testament to the trust our clients place in us and the consistency with which we deliver. Technology changes, industries evolve, and businesses face new challenges every year, but one thing has remained constant: Powersoft’s commitment to doing what we say we will do.
Our clients know that when they work with Powersoft, they are partnering with a company that has successfully navigated every major shift in technology since the 1980s. From early 4GL systems to PowerBuilder, from travel call centres to hospitality platforms, from bespoke enterprise software to Sage integrations and cloud‑ready architectures — we have delivered solutions that last.
Many of the organisations we support are household names — global brands who rely on us for systems that must perform flawlessly every day. For a small, independent company, we have consistently punched well above our weight. That confidence comes from one simple truth: we deliver on time, on budget, and to the standard our clients expect.
Forty years of experience means our clients benefit from deep technical knowledge, proven methodologies, and a level of stability that is increasingly rare in the software industry. It means continuity, reliability, and a partner who will still be here tomorrow — supporting, modernising, and enhancing the systems that matter most to their business.
Most of all, it means our clients are never just buying software or consultancy. They are investing in a long‑term relationship with a team that cares about their success, understands their challenges, and stands behind every solution we deliver.
